Community Health Plan is a jargon to my vocabulary. Having graduated with a degree that has no clinical and community practice makes it even awful. I really did not know how to make one or even know how one looks like!

During our stay in the community, we were already told that we have to accomplish our tasks
so we can have a break this summer. Well, it wasn’t for me. Studying for both Infectious and MCH remedial exams was really tough and challenging. I still helped during paper work but the bulk wasn’t given to me. I was assigned with easier tasks since my groupmates were really considerate and empathetic.
Back here in the city, we still had a couple of meetings just to get our paper done. The last few days, the compiling of the whole Comprehensive Community Health Plan or as I call it, CCHP was given to me. I did the easy work though -table of contents, labeling, page numbers. I still had a good night’s sleep. Then, the day of our dry run presentation came. The comments were like raindrops from the clouds. It just dawned in us that we did not even have the meat in our CCHP. It only meant that a major revision must be done! We even scrapped out our own CHP but it was for the better of the paper. So we started editing at 2PM. We knew that an overnight was about to happen. We worked until our brains were exhausted and drained. I even thought I could be home before midnight. But I was wrong. I was confident since the place we stayed was just a 10PHP sikad/15PHP tricy/5PHP jeepney ride, or roughly a 30-minute walk away from our house. This was my first time to have a real overnight at my classmate’s house without my parents being frantic about it. We burnt our midnight oils facing our laptops and printer just to keep everything done before the 12noon deadline the next day. I really did not know how I did it. I only had a 30-minute nap at around 3AM and worked productively until 11AM the next day. Everyone had a good 2-3 hours of sleep. Maybe my thinking was that I have to reciprocate for the work that others have done on the paper. And so I did. Again, I did the compiling and some editing of CHPs and the whole CCHP. It was really a delight seeing our CCHP printed out before it was due! Luckily, we were able to submit it on time. We couldn’t have done this if not for teamwork and tenacity.
So if someone asks me about how my experience was making a CHP, this I believe is one experience that I would gladly share to the next first years of SOM.
